Issue store credit for subscription recurring orders

If your store sells subscription products and you want to issue store credit every time a recurring order is fulfilled, this can be set up using Koin. As long as your subscription app (such as Recharge or Appstle) automatically creates recurring Shopify orders, Koin can use those events as triggers to issue store credit.

Koin currently supports two program types:

  • Cashback Program
  • Custom Program

To ensure smooth integration with subscription apps, subscription orders are handled in two separate cases. You can create two programs for these cases, both flows can be activated simultaneously without causing any conflicts.

Case 1: One-time orders & first subscription payment

You can set up a regular Cashback program for this case. The reason is that, for the first month, customers pay directly, and the order is processed just like a standard Shopify order.

Case 2: Recurring subscription orders (from the second billing cycle onward)

We suggest using a custom flow in this case. It is triggered by the event “subscription billing is successful.” First, Learn more about the Custom Program here

For this specific case, consider these steps:

  • Create a Custom program, choose the template Subscription renewals reward
  • Set up the credit amount along with the expiration date... on Koin view
  • Download the Sample flow, then import it to Shopify flow
  • Finish the Flow set up.
  • Activate Flow and the Program.
